I quote from the 2007 edition of the Consumer Action Handbook “There are a lot of companies out there advertising that they can erase bad credit for a hefty fee. Don’t believe them”.
Only time and a good repayment plan will re-establish good credit, nothing that is accurate can legally be removed from you credit report.
For the most part, you’re wasting your money for something that you could do on your own. Of course these companies won’t tell you that. They longer they take to improve your credit, the more money your paying them. I suggest going to Borders to find a few great books that can show you how to improve your credit. Many of them have work books or examples. A friend of mine was able to clear so many things off of her credit report because of the books she’s read and it’s COMPLETELY legal. I’m starting on mine tonight!
P.S.
When I find the names of some of the books, I’ll type in the sources portion.
If you do use one just make sure it is a non-for-profit agency. In other words check with your local community agencies for free credit consumer repair services. They will not charge you a penny. And they will not play games with you. Like telling you that in about 4 months you will have a higher score or delinquent accounts will be removed. They will help you get all your creditors together and make arrangements to pay them off at a lower rate. If you owe the debt you will have to pay but isn’t that only fair? You made the debt so you will have to pay for it, but at least you can get help lowering your int-rest rate and pay at a lower amount.
right ok ill be completly honest. Quite some time ago i lost my job and as a result got bad credit. These companies in my opinion are vultures, they CANNOT do anything for your credit. I applied to one some time ago and all they did was send me a load of forms out in the post to fill in to send to court to ‘try’ and get bad credit removed. ( will not work i promise you) and they charged me 130 quid for something that i could have got for free at the court.
Credit has gotten so bad that companies will give you credit and when you fall so much as one payment behind bang you get a CCJ. Vanquis anyone?
In truth if you want to improve your credit then there are a few things to do
Pay everything on time, if you cant contact the company.
Dont apply for credit, it will leave a foot print on your file.
If you think you have bad credit then ask experian for a copy of your file.
if you have a CCJ in error and you can proove it then get it removed. They have to legally and they have 28 days to do it.
its hard in todays day and ago to live without credit. But my advise is to stay well clear of these companies and save your money. They will do nothing for you, trust me.
They are in business to make money. Most people who seek their service are not going to make them rich, so beware. Any advice give by a service should be verified by other sources- do your homework.
Try to get away from using any credit- if you cannot afford something today, you will not afford it tomorrow with 23% interest plus late fees and reinstatement fees.
Also be very leary of transferring your debt to another low interest card because they will have steep penalities when one payment is late or missed and the entire amount may triple with things written into the fine print. Do not roll debt into a loan that your home is the security!!!

It better to just not buy things you can’t afford and pay back money you borrow.
